in law section i will put:

The Copyright Act of 1976 provides statutory definitions of fair use and in general is restrictive of the use of film and video in an educational setting, reflecting a general "copyright owner's" point of view. Film distributors are enforcing and planning to continue to enforce their rights under the law. There is a general concern that piracy and unauthorized use may result in pay cable and videocassettes becoming the major forms of distribution at the expense of theatrical film distributors.

The Cinematograph Films Act of 1927 was an act of the United Kingdom Parliament designed to stimulate the declining British film industry. It introduced a requirement for British cinemas to show a quota of British films, for a duration of 10 years. The Act's supporters believed that this would promote the emergence of a vertically-integrated film industry, in which production, distribution and exhibition infrastructure are controlled by the same companies. The vertically-integrated American film industry saw rapid growth in the years immediately following the end of the First World War. The idea, therefore, was to try and counter Hollywood's perceived economic and cultural dominance by promoting similar business practices among British studios, distributors and cinema chains. By creating an artificial market for British films, it was hoped that the increased economic activity in the production sector would eventually lead to the growth of a self-sustaining industry. The quota was initially set at 7.5% for exhibitors, which was raised to 20% in 1935.

The National Film Preservation Act is the name of several federal laws relating to the identification, acquisition, storage, and dissemination of "films that are culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."

Obscene Publications Act 1959. An Act to amend the law relating to the publication of obscene matter; to provide for the protection of literature; and to strengthen the law concerning pornography.

Video Recordings Act 1984. This Act requires all ‘video works’ (films, TV programmes, video games, etc) which are supplied on a disc, tape or any other device capable of storing data electronically to be classified by the BBFC, unless they fall within the definition of an exempted work.

The Human Rights Act 1998 establishes the right to freedom of expression, and the BBFC has to have regard to the impact of its decisions on the rights of any relevant person. The Act, however, permits such restrictions on freedom of expression as are prescribed by law and are necessary in a democratic society. These include the prevention of disorder or crime and the protection of health and morals.

The Protection of Children Act 1978 makes it illegal to make, distribute, show or possess ‘indecent’ photographs or pseudo-photographs of a child (that is, someone under the age of 18 years).

Rightio.. what are the thoughts? Which ones do you think we should put in the report??

I don't know...the thing is we should get rid of some....i mean abi's is almost 500 words long...that is way too much, having 10% of our proposal dedicated to something even izzy might not read when grading...I only glimpsed quickly through them, but is there a possibility to keep all of them, seeming they all seem viable to me, but write a sentence for each one? or you can't change those, coz they are laws and shit?

I just realized I can't really put these in....we need ethical and legal issues numbered and then mention the action required....
