Minutes for Rita Marcella meeting

OK so below are what I told/asked Rita, and in italics is what she said. Hope it all makes sense?




Rita Marcella Meeting
Monday 15 November 1pm

To clarify: my team and I are making 4 videos on the following courses: corporate communication (student from RGU is now a reporter at STV, ask Izzy who may have details), journalism, international management and international management with retailing. (Videos are for students going to uni. And would like to learn more about the uni.)
Already spoken to Madeleine and going to arrange interviews with the following: Robert Newton (Dean of Postgraduate Programmes); Jack Keenan (MSn Corporate Communication and Public Affairs); Andrew Jones (MSc Journalism); Desiree Sahota Dreessen (course administrator), Isabel Grant for International Marketing Maganagement. (Also include graduates. Contact details from lecturers.)
Have you got any preferences as to what you would like included for the videos? A particular style? Time length? Team thought 2-3 minutes. RGU branding to start, presenter to introduce course/ABS/RGU, shots of Aberdeen, then interviews with students combined shots of RGU. End titles. (Idea for different style of videos: show experience from persons eyes. Sped up. Person going from airport, going on bus, going to markets etc)
Who would you particularly like in videos? Madeleine said videos must include: students, course administrator and course leader.
Explain postgraduate survey. (Also include: is there an area which they particularly didn’t know about?)
A lack of communication between university and applicant. Do you think the problem lies in the frequency of communication between uni and applicant or the efficiency of the communication? (Efficiency – too much info is given too much details & makes them not read it. We need to find out what info do they actually need and will read?)
Will include distance learning (for videos only full time students. Make separate video for distance learners, confirm this with Madeleine), student accommodation, bus tours etc. Why should students come all the distance to study at RGU? And Aberdeen? Include International Market on Belmont Street.
Anything to add?
Include ‘International Week’ (held at ABS). Madeleien will give more details about this.
Include oil and gas industry for branding. Rita can easily arrange for us to see companies like BP. Which companies do we want to include and how can we link them with the videos?
Overseas students – concentrate on.
Make a snippet video on about 30 seconds which can be put on the website and for lecturers to see.
Include shots of: places to eat/study/professional companies, sports, culture, history and nightlife.
Videos to be realistic – show the real Aberdeen. Cold but sunny and dry.
Film events which are happening next few months. Graduation in December. Society Ball also in Decemeber – film students having fun. Entrepeneurs also in HMT.

yes I think put the questions in izzys meeting. What i put in the above on ritas meeting last monday - just try shorten it down a bit. Rita was generally okay with everything say. Just put in minutes that i clarified everthing about videos/courses/content etc. And add into minutes the bits which rita said.
