Survey (The length of the title for this topic must be ranging between 10 and 255 characters)
Hei, sorry for missing today's lecture. I know we usually sit for an hour after the lecture with the groups to discuss stuff, so in case that happened, sorry for missing it. I got a little scared with the interactive media project thingy and stayed up all night to do it...
Anyway, that's not really important. I did some online research about how to do an awesome and efficient survey and I mostly found a lot of crap...but from what I read, I think the most efficient way to do it is with the optional answers, like strongly disagree, disagree, agree, strongly agree.
Therefore I think most questions would make more sense and the person who's taking the survey does not need a lot of time...
The most important question:
Do you find that the communication between you and RGU helped you reach a decision?
agree, s a, disagreee, s disagree
We shouldn't ask about when they applied or what they studied because I think that would be irrelevant. We need to see where the general problem is and how to help improve and correct it...with a DVD.
Another question I can think of: Improvements in the communication process between students and RGU have been made during you study at RGU.
And the last question should definitely be something like: "can you add a few words that can describe that comm process?"
And based on these surveys, we should select 3-4 of them which are more thorough and ask those people kindly if we can interview them on tape for further knowledge about this and a potential dvd promo...
Hope this makes sense and helps. I am still stressed with the Jack thing and I can't think properly. I'll be back in shape tomorrow : )

Survey Questions
I too am stressed. I havent subitted it yet and I don't know where to find jack! Eep.
Anyhow, What survey questions have we got so far?
And what format? Do we want to make it a comment survey, an agree disagree survey or a points survey (1 is bad & 10 is amazing that kinda thing)
So far, all I can think of is:
How did you find the communication between RGU and yourself upon application?
Are their areas of improvement that would have benefitted you upon application?
What postGrad course did you apply for? (Good for referancing im guessing)
How do you feel about the online resources available to support your application?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
That's all I can think of.

This is and looks great...great job...
Just one problem, why do the students have to return the questionnaire to madelaine? Shouldn't we collect the data and analyze it ?

POSTGRADUATE COURSE INFORMATION VIDEOS
TEAM UPDATE 2
Tuesday 2 November
11am – meeting with Madeleine & Shona
Attendees – Brano & Abi
Questions which were asked:
• Which departments in Aberdeen Business School would you like videos for?
• For each of the videos we will include RGU branding. The tone will be informal and relaxed. Have you got any preferences as to what you would included in the videos?
• How long would you like each video?
• Would you like anyone particular to be shown in the videos?
• We would like to do a survey on current and past post graduates, is this okay for us to do? Are they any surveys you would like for us to particularly do?
• How can admissions be improved for communication purposes?
• It seems the biggest problem relies on communication. Because in all three cases there is a lack of communication between the university and the applicant. Do you think the problem lies in the frequency of communication between university and applicant, or the efficiency of the communcaition?
• What are the values that Admissions relies upon when promoting RGU? For example: integrity, innovation.
• Would you like us to promote these values within the videos? To what extent?
• Could you tell us some environmental risks that Admissions have faced in the past?
• Is there a progress review chart that we can analyse?
• To what extent was the promotional campaign for post graduates successful or unsuccessful in the past?
• Any stats that Madeleine can give to us which may be useful.
What was discussed:
• Madeleine would like videos for the following departments: MSc Corporate Communcation & Public Affairs, MSc Journalism, MSc International Marking Management and MSc International Marketing Management with Retailing.
• Aim videos towards international students. Include bus tours. What is there to do in Aberdeen apart from the night life? (We could link in ‘Student Life’ film team. Mention this in next team meeting.)
• No preference as to how videos should look like. But be creative! Short and punchy. There are some examples in handout which Madeleine gave Abi to have a look at on YouTube. The “Twilight Parody” was very good and funny, but may not attract to international students. The ‘MSc International Marketing Management’ was a good style, but too long.
• Madeleine was not bothered about how long videos should be. Abi suggested two minutes maximum, which she was happy about.
• Ideally students, the course administrator, head lectures for each course. And either Rita Marcella (Dean of Faculty) or Robert Newton (Dean of Postgraduate Programmes).
• Madeleine was actually going to do the same survey this month. She will email Abi with questions they have so far, and we can add any questions and email to Madeleine for approval.
• Madeleine will email Abi – more details about admissions, progress review chart, statistics for postgraduates for the last 5 years and conversion rates.
• Madeleine added to include: International Street Market on Belmont Street. Distance learners for the International Marketing Management course. Have a look at other university and college website and look at their course videos, this may help with ideas and the style. Some people have never been to Aberdeen before and do not know anyone. Make the student feel welcome at RGU. How can we portray this? Include student accommodation.
Tuesday 2 November cont.
1pm – team meeting.
Attendees – Brano, Dan, Linzi & Abi.
What was discussed:
• Introduce all team members and what their role is
• Make sure that each team member knows what our task is to do for the project.
• Make sure that all team members have each others contact details. And understand how to use the forum.
• Explain what was discussed in the meeting with Madeleine and Shona.
• What do each of us need to do for the next meeting?
What do we need to do for the next meeting?
• Each think of questions for the postgraduate survey (have these ready for Friday and post on forum. Abi will email the survey to Madeleine Friday morning.
• Abi to email Madeleine and ask how she would like the video. Would she like it on DVD and Flash?
• Set a week by week planner up. For 23rd November each team member must do six pages of proposal. Brano – A, Abi – B, Dan – C and Linzi – D. This refers to: A – first 6 pages of group proposal. Abi – second lot of 6 pages etc. If each person gets their own part written up for 23rd November, it means we will have plenty time to check it and correct any mistakes. Abi will also do the references page and read on relevant books needed for the project.
• Abi will phone Rita and Robert to arrange meetings on consolidation week.
• Each team member needs to decide what documents will be needed for filming and editing. For example: equipment booking forms and risk assessments.
• Abi will email Izzy in regards to presentation. What needs to be included in the presentation, duration etc.
Madeleine emailed Abi later that day with statistics, more details about admissions, progress review chart, statistics for postgraduates for the last 5 years and conversion rates. She also wrote how she would like the survey done next week (consolidation week).
